Seismology Stations and Data Center Kilimambogo Station

The Department of Geology runs a Seismology section under Geophysics thematic area. This is composed of a fully equipped laboratory with computers and servers that receive data from our 10 field seismic stations. The field seismic stations includes,Kilimambogo,Magandi, Kibwezi,Lodwar,Nairobi, and five other more spread across the country. The data is analysed by our Technical staffs and stored in the serves for use by students, researches and construction companies. The data is also used to generate a Seismic Hazard Map of kenya and the Global Seismic Hazard Map.
