Acacia Discovery Group Kenya seeks to employ a Geologist based in Kisumu, Kenya. This role reports to the Section Leader Exploration Geology and the role holder will be accountable to work with the Project Geologists and Section Leader Geology to implement agreed exploration programs and ensure the collection of high quality geological data leading to the discovery of new gold deposits that will have a significant impact on the Company’s earnings and growth. 

This is a fixed term contract role, with the work roster being six weeks on and three weeks off. 


  • Implement approved exploration programmes, bringing targets to decision points in a cost effective and timely manner. 
  • Comply with all government statutory, stock exchange and JV reporting requirements within the project/district. 
  • Maintain systems and procedures to ensure all geological functions are carried out safely and productively. 
  • Complete geological logging of all drilling (RAB/ AC / RC/ DD) including lithological, alteration, structural, survey, sample and geotechnical data collection in digital format and ensure quality data is submitted to database personnel in a timely manner. 
  • Complete quality surface mapping and geochemical sampling of projects as required to delineate priority targets. 
  • Co-ordinate the compilation of exploration results and review project progress for reporting to the Project Geologists / Section Leaders Geology / Exploration Manager. 
  • Continually update all drill sections, geological plans and geological interpretations with the latest information. 
  • Utilise stereo net programs to plot up structural data from mapping and drill core and interpret this data to assist in geological interpretations. 
  • Assist Project Geologists / Section Leaders Geology in the supervision of external contractors & ensure that activities are in compliance with Acacia Exploration, relevant government and environmental standards. 
  • Assist in the completion of monthly reports as required. 
  • Assist in the completion of quarterly reports to meet statutory and partner commitments as required from time-to-time. 
  • Contribute to a safe working environment for all employees, contractors and the public. 
  • Adhering to regulatory requirements, policies, standards, procedures and work instructions. 
  • Reporting of non-compliances, risks or losses, and security issues. 
  • Ensure that company resources are used in a timely, focused and effective manner at all times. 
  • Supervise and train geological assistants in the effective collection and interpretation of exploration data. 


Qualification Requirements: 

  • Bachelor of Science Geology Degree with Honours. 
  • Continued professional development and technical training. 

Experience Requirements: 

  • Minimum 3 years’ exploration industry experience.
